| Joseph is a Charter Member of Otero-Garcia-Navarrete Squadron #72, with eligibility in the Sons of The American Legion through his father Tony Navarrete, who served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Joseph is also a charter member of the American Legion Riders Chapter #23. |
| At the Squadron and Detachment Level Joseph has held several offices, including Commander, Vice-Commander, Finance Officer, Historian, and Sergeant-at-Arms. |
| At the National Level, Joseph was a National Vice-Commander 2017-2018, has served as Alternate NEC and NEC, and is an NMI graduate. Joseph was a member of the Sub-Committee on Resolutions, Committees on Committee, Special Ad-hoc Committee on Leadership Development and Chairman of the Membership Committee, Veterans Employment and Education, and the Americanism Commissions.
